Isn’t It Funny?

Isn’t it funny that socialists always insist that they are doing whatever it is they are doing for the benefit of the poor. Yet in case after case it is the poor that ultimately suffer the most under socialist leadership?

Pick a country, any country… Venezuela is a good recent example. They are practically starving to death and they spend most of their day trying to find food.

And to think of it Obama praised the genius behind the decline, Hugo Chavez, “Mi amigo…” And, of course, Bernie Sanders loves what Venezuela’s recent leadership has done with the place.

Why We Can’t Have Nice Things #53745

Check this out – FCC’s Wheeler Proposing Set-Top Standards Enforcer.

Yes, the chairman of the Federal Communications Communications, the the increasingly ambitious and increasingly dictatorial federal government overseer of all things communication, wants to set up a whole bureaucratic authority to oversee set-top boxes, i.e. your cable box (and don’t be surprised when they decide to include your Roku or Sling Box).

WTF?

Despite somehow inventing and delivering perfectly functional cable boxes for decades, this overweening federal agency is edging towards a decision that somehow the cable box industry can’t work without the federali’s guidance.

The real gist of this is that the bureaucrats behind this want to control the content that goes through that box.

They may bray about “access,” as if it’s okay for people who don’t want to pay for the box have “rights’ to a box, but they are moving towards making the box just another “free” (subsidized and paid for by other people) “right” like an Obamaphone. Maybe it will be called a “Hillarybox.”

And the Hillarybox will have to distribute, under penalty of law, propaganda from liberal groups, free of charge because those groups (euphemistically called ‘stakeholders’) don’t want to pay to have their propaganda carried and many outlets don’t want to voluntarily  carry that propaganda.

Laugh all you want at my paranoia, this will happen if the feds get control of cable boxes.

There simply is no Constitutional reason for the federal government to have any say whatsoever in the hardware used in our private cable systems.

As I’ve said before, given their way, liberals will politicize everything, every minute of our life and every thing we do in life. They see Orwell’s “1984” not as a warning but as a manual and as a goal.

A Bite Out of the Apple

Are you chuckling as much as I am about the European Union socking it to Apple for unpaid/back taxes on its European operations?

It couldn’t happen to a more politically correct liberal poster child than Apple.

Instead of saying, “Oops, our bad. We’re good liberals so we’ll just reach into our pocket and happily pony up the amount…,” Apple squealed like a stuck pig.

Don’tcha luv it when liberals are hoist by their own petard?

Hey, Timmy! You’re a big-time supporter of every liberal cause that rolls down the hill. You’re a supporter of Hillary Clinton, the Democratic Party and probably Bernie Sanders too. You wanted these things like big taxes and governmental micromanagement, but are they just for other people or are you willing to live by them?

Apparently not…

Now, are you a liberal who’s being mugged by reality? Are you going to learn the lesson? Do you understand that the Eurocrats view you and your company as little more than a servant of their enterprise. You are a sheep to be shorn and provide them with wool. It might be really cool wool but you’re still a sheep in their eyes. Baaaaaah!

Are you going to join us or is your liberal fealty, possibly driven by your boastful homosexuality, your greatest concern? Is your sexual upside-down cake so important to you that you’d piss away $13 billion of other people’s money (and much more year after year if you knuckle under to the Eurofascists)?

Adam’s Appalling Plan

I caught NBA Commissioner Adam Silver’s Summer League press conference on Tuesday night. Of the three or so big issues he addressed, he went after the scheduled 2017 NBA  All-Star game in Charlotte, N.C. He said that the NBA had yet to make a decision on whether to change the venue. He didn’t mention why they would change venues concerning a long-scheduled commitment but everyone knows it’s because of the “North Carolina Restroom Law.” Silver doesn’t like the law, preferring to grant sexually confused men special rights to use whatever restroom they wish to use – everyone else be damned. When Adam doesn’t like something he expects changes to be made.

Silver, long suspected to be gay, is using the NBA to promote homosexuality and, along the same line, getting it increasingly involved in political issues. In response to a question about the growing political stances (all liberal) that players, teams and the league have taken lately, Silver proudly approved and wanted more. For him everything is political. He’s a deep believer in the left-wing cant that “The personal is the political.”

That is the mentality that dominated the Soviet Union, Red China and other liberal-run countries. Everything was seen through a political lens, especially things like sports. No aspect of daily life could be considered a safe refuge from politics and it eventually led to a society where you were judged (and eventually condemned) on your politics.

That’s the world the liberals and Democrats want to institute. They must be resisted.

On a similar track, another Yahoo! Sports hack writer, Ben Rohrbach, “reported” on four Minneapolis cops walking off a part-time security gig at a WNBA game when members of the Minnesota Lynx wore Black Lives Matter t-shirts.

Rohrbach castigated the officers for their action. He applauded the gals for their racism however. In the writer’s mind, some opinions are acceptable or even commendable while others (the cops’) are to be condemned.

Don’t say you weren’t warned.

The Richard Donner Party

One of the things that came out of the “Hollywood hearings” about communist influence in Hollywood during the 1930s and ’40s was how certain movie writers, directors and producers (looking at you Dalton Trumbo) covertly inserted communist propaganda into films.

Of course, as we have all learned from school, books, TV shows, PBS specials, movies, clucking politicians and celebrities, there was no such thing as communist messages in any movies, any communist influence in Hollywood; in fact there were no communists at all in Hollywood. It was all just a figment of Richard Nixon’s imagination… Ahem…

Anyway, I bring this up because I caught Sylvester Stallone’s “Assassins” the other night on TV. For me it’s an enjoyable time-waster from 1995. Stallone is Stallone. Antonio Banderas puts on one of his best performances as Stallone’s rival hitman who has just a bit too much energy and envy. Julianne Moore is at her sexiest as “the mark.” (I know, she’s a superliberal and big-time pro-abortion ding-a-ling but she’s still a doll.) The script is by the (then) Wachowski brothers and Brian Helgeland. Nice names but I understand that the Wachowskis have disowned the movie (along with other things apparently) and Helgeland acted as a script doctor.

The director is the reliable Richard Donner. Not greatest or most stylish director but quite competent. His better-known films include “The Omen,” “Superman” (Christopher Reeve version), “Ladyhawke,” “Lethal Weapon,” “Scrooged” and “Maverick.”

I bring this up because seeing the movie again reminded me of something you see in a lot of movies and TV shows but rarely in such a ham-fisted way. Slipping political (always liberal) messages into the background.

For instance, in a scene in an elevator a rich woman wearing a fur coat gets on. Julianne Moore’s character then proceeds to subtly spray paint the back of the coat without the lady being aware. Then she smugly smiles as the lady exits the elevator. Donner and his wife Lauren Shuler Donner were/are well-known anti-fur activists.

In a couple of city scenes the buses have anti-NRA messages on the side panels. In one sequence, the Antonio Banderas character, in the middle of a gun battle, is pressed up against one of these panels. I’m sure Donner was laughing the whole time at the irony.

In a scene near the end, located in a plaza in a Latin American country, a woman wearing a “Pro-Choice” t-shirt approaches Julianne Moore’s table and dominates the screen for at least 10 seconds. “Pro-Choice”? In a Latin American plaza? Talk about your ugly American.

The “Pro-Choice” t-shirt may have been Moore’s idea or Shuler Donner’s or Donner’s or all three.

Why was this done? There was nothing in them germane to the movie. One could have marked the elevator scene down to it being a character trait of the Moore character — she’s a cat lady and something of an arrogant loner. However, everything else is straight-forward liberal propaganda.

It’s just a liberal taking advantage of their position and trying to insert political messages where they don’t belong. Remember, liberals try to politicize everything. They won’t leave any venue, any moment of life alone. They want to command everything and you must see it their way. They cannot live and let live.

Impeach Obama?

Is there an honest Democrat? Is there a Democrat that would put the nation ahead of party gain?

I seriously doubt it. Joe Lieberman was probably the closest and he was almost thrown out of the party at the end for thinking too much on his own. (And he voted to save Bill Clinton during the impeachment.) I think he actually has left the party but maintains a Saturn-distance orbit.

I’d dare say that many of today’s Democrats view the party’s well-being as being the same as the nation’s.

I bring this up because I see a lot of people saying that the reason they support Donald Trump is that the Washington-based GOP establishment has failed them. An agreeable point I’ll happily acknowledge.

But a subset of this group takes it further. They complain that the GOP Congress should have impeached President Obama — and thus failing to do so has lost their support.

Sadly, these people simply do not understand how our political system works. One could argue that they shouldn’t need to understand how it works; that they have jobs and that they thought they had left it in supposedly good hands.

The simple fact is that impeachment of a sitting Democratic president is impossible and will be impossible as long as that party is in existence.

If Bill Clinton couldn’t be impeached with his unarguable list of crimes, there is no way the “first black” president is going to be impeached.

Remember, during the Clinton impeachment (1999) not a single Democratic senator voted guilty on either article (one was perjury and one was obstruction of justice). The only splits came from the Republican side where Slade Gorton, Richard Shelby (say it ain’t so, Richard!), Ted Stevens, Fred Thompson (say it ain’t so, Fred) and John Warner gave Clinton a pass on the perjury charge — after everyone knew that he had lied. Lincoln “The Original RINO” Chafee, Susan Collins, “Weasel” Jim Jeffords, Olympia Snowe and Arlen “Scottish Law” Specter actually voted with the Democrats to save Clinton on both articles.

The point here is that Democrats NEVER break rank. Republicans will break rank — or as some might put it, think for themselves. But Democrats all move in lock-step. They move as one – with one goal: consolidating power in Washington under a Democrat-controlled socialist totalitarian central government.

They are The Borg.

Not a single Democrat looked at the evidence collected in a secure room. There is a lot more to the Clinton impeachment than has been made public. All of it, I understand, quite damning to the Clinton case (notably more interns seduced). But when the DNC ordered the senators not to view the evidence, they turned the blind eye to justice, and American decency. They didn’t need to know anything because they already knew all they had to know — vote not guilty.

Not even putatively “conservative” Southern Democrats like John Breaux, Bob Graham, Ernest Hollings and Charles Robb were willing to go against the party though their constituents wanted them to. None of these gentlemen ever ran for elected office again (Breaux, Graham and Hollings had just been returned to office in 1998 so it made a great thumb in the eye of their constituents).

(And our American news media strangely lacks curiosity about this whole episode yet it can always summon the energy for, say, the ‘33 and 1/3 anniversary of Watergate!’)

If a sorry sack of dung like Bill Clinton couldn’t be impeached, in times when morality in America still had a few breaths left, how on Earth could Obama be impeached when the vast majority of Americans haven’t the faintest idea how he’s violated the Constitution and his oath.

As a party the Democrats would be endlessly sabotaging the whole process. Rich liberal-funded Astroturf groups would be demanding that Republicans “stop their assault on the Constitution” (in that amazing way these groups accuse their opponents of just the opposite of what they are actually doing). The media would be screaming racism, remember their amoral conduct during the Clinton years? Not a single Democrat would vote to impeach Obama, ever. That’s EVER.

He could eat a live baby on TV and they’d complain that Republicans were racist for complaining about that. He could surrender the United States to a troika of Iran, North Korean and Venezuela and the Democrats would defend him. The media would make excuses and do stories about Republican “obstruction of peace.” And a few Republicans would be more than squishy on the matter.

There is a difference between the parties. Democrats have a goal — an omnipotent/omnipresent federal government under party control.

Republicans really don’t have a unified goal. Some want a little more government, others want no more (but maybe it could work better) and some want less. The split makes it difficult to get things done and it makes it nearly impossible to check the Democrats’ never-ending press on government expansion. Essentially, Republicans are always on the defensive.

(On a side note, the Democrats are also at war with the Republican Party and seek its destruction. The Republicans, especially in Washington, don’t understand this and think the old days of national comity still exist.)

If your measure of Republican support is based on whether it would have or will impeach Obama then you are never going to be happy. It is not possible to make you happy. Trump won’t make you happy either.
