MLB’s Fetish

I’ll get this out of the way because too many people will overreact and not read my whole piece.

Jackie Robinson seems like a nice guy, a genuinely good person, a solid, above-average player and I’m glad he got his opportunity to play in Major League Baseball. Baseball is the better for it.

Having said that, baseball would also be better to drop its bizarre obsession with Jackie Robinson; an obsession that gets worse each year.

This weekend “Jackie” has been the center of the MLB world (and for much of the preceding week as well). It’s the 70th anniversary of superhero Jackie Robinson “crossing the color barrier” and evicting the Klan or somebody or bad thoughts from baseball. Witnessing at the voluminous hagiography, this is now considered the single most important event in baseball history.

I was trying to watch the Atlanta-San Diego game on Fox Sports’ FS1 Saturday night but after a couple of innings the announcers turned away from covering the game to discuss Robinson and his “legacy.”

It’s slightly comedic for the announcer to ask various people how “Jackie personally affected them”? Asking people who weren’t even alive then and have no experience with actual racial discrimination rather than the whiff of an essence of a shadow of a reflection of an imputation of racism that exists in our world of “microggressions” is pure virtue signaling.

For those keeping score “micro” in the numerical sense means one-millionth. Pray, tell, libtards, how much of an aggression is one-millionth of an aggression?

But back to the game.

White media folks and an ex-baseball player (black) gushed about how they couldn’t be people today if Robinson hadn’t surmounted the “color barrier.” You see the same behavior at certain religious meetings, where people confess that they couldn’t get out of bed or function daily without help from their “Lord, Jesus Christ” or Mohammed.

I have yet to hear of any miracle cures attributed to him but give it another couple of years…

Eventually reliably white liberal Ken Rosenthal was brought in to officiate a discussion about how the number of black players was shockingly low and falling — from 9-10% a decade ago to 7-8% today.

How can this be when “Jackie” did so much?????!!!!! Don’t people appreciate what “Jackie” did for them?????!!!!! They are insulting “Jackie”!!!!!

Of course the liberal asserted that this was not the result of “choices” made by young black athletes, choosing to play other sports like basketball and football. No, there had to be a darker explanation. Something that could be used as a club to batter someone, something. There was a force unnamed yet existing and pulling strings causing this precipitous fall.

You see, “urban” kids were poor so therefore they turned away from baseball. That these very same kids somehow manage to play football or basketball and walk around with $100+ Air Jordan shoes, expensive clothes and smartphones didn’t come up. “Poverty” was the all-purpose answer and we should be ever-so-concerned and put a stop to it.

That actually poor kids in the Caribbean or Latin America somehow manage to get pretty good at baseball without special MLB-funded programs and U.S. taxpayer-supported facilities programs wasn’t explored. No, all agreed, the obvious solution was to spend more money on “urban” facilities and efforts to recruit young black players. That’s what Jackie would have wanted (though I doubt he had access to such facilities or efforts).

Interestingly, the discussion touched on Title IX’s effect upon college baseball. Title IX is the nefarious government regulation used by the Dept. of Education to drive down men’s sports programs at the college level while increasing the number women given sports-based scholarships. Even if they can’t find enough women, schools have to remove men to equalize the numbers. Many schools have shut down men’s teams in tennis, wrestling, track and field, etc., to placate their DOE bureaucratic masters. Some smaller college and less-successful college baseball teams have folded over the decades of Title IX’s existence. My undergrad alma mater SMU folded its team in the early 1980s in this manner.

Rosenthal insisted that somehow Title IX had only affected young “urban” players, preventing them from getting into college baseball programs, though it somehow had not affected others in, say, rural or suburban areas. Nor was it brought up that many players, especially very good ones, go straight from high school into the minor leagues, bypassing the college baseball chokepoint. They also managed to avoid the point that college baseball overall is seemingly more popular than ever before and awash in money.

The obvious solution would be to banish Title IX back to the Mordor from whence it came but none of those in the discussion dared go there. They knew Twitterstorm that would come forth and might find themselves sent to reeducation camps or even fired.

After entering the third inning of this sidebar I turned away and went elsewhere.

Jackie made numerous guest appearances in the several other games I caught over the weekend — some of which included mentioning other politically correct efforts for young girls, the “Trailblazer” program. Apparently there are not enough girls playing baseball or softball or something. At that point they might introduce some young girl or a female sideline reporter who’d assure us of the goodness of said program.

As part of the Robinson idolatry, every team in Major League Baseball has been forced to “retire” Jackie Robinson’s number 42 — even if Robinson didn’t play for them (he played for the Dodgers at the MLB level) or they weren’t in existence at the time. Compounding this, every player on every team in every game played on Saturday had to wear the number, 42. It was a bit confusing.

None of this is done for, say, Babe Ruth, Walter Johnson, Nap Lajoie, Honus Wagner, Cy Young, Ted Williams, famed and far more accomplished players.

This reflects the liberal obsession with putting “racism” or skin color above all else. Such a side issue drives baseball rather than the playing of baseball itself.

That’s not right for baseball. It turns the sport into yet another political football. Liberals will politicize everything.

As some have wisely said, the way to put racism behind us is to no longer practice it; even if it is thought to be well-meant.

People living today are not part of the segregation era. Beyond serving as a warning of weakness and a history lesson, contemporaries should not burdened with carrying the guilt and sinful burdens of the past. People of today must be judge by what they do, today and in their lives not what others departed did in the past.

Jackie Robinson’s greatest accomplishment will be realized when he fades and is mostly remembered for his on the field performance: the winner of the first Rookie of the Year Award in 1947, being the 1949 National League MVP, having a stellar .311 career batting average, being at that time maybe the best base stealer since Ty Cobb (maybe better), a top-flight and underrated fielder and being one of the leading overall players in the late 1940s and early 1950s. That would be true equality.

That’s a fine and deserving place in history.

The Susan Rice Story: Crickets and Squirrels

Last weekend it broke that former Obama apparatchik Susan Rice apparently spent 2016 and the transition period collecting classified intel on Donald Trump and his campaign/transition staffs. For exactly what purposes is unclear. Rice’s responses have been of the “You can’t prove it, I didn’t leak it and It wasn’t illegal” variety.

You might recall Ms. Rice, was the chief disinformation dispenser for the Benghazi cluster-eff.

This was a follow-on to the Evelyn Farkas fark-up, adding fuel to the fire that there was vast, Obama administration-wide conspiracy to gather and distribute classified surveillance intelligence that could be portrayed as embarrassing to Trump and his people.

An interesting sidelight about this bombshell of a story is its coverage or lack thereof. It broke last weekend yet, somehow, the major media, those great guys and gals that cover every utterance of Trump and so many Republicans, have helpfully relayed the “Trump is a Putin puppet” meme slavishly almost every hour of every day since it surfaced last year, have yet to get to the story, and I write this Thursday night.

Wait, I tell a lie. There have been a couple of odd stories about Susan Rice issuing mysterious denials concerning something that is entirely legal and hardly anything at all… The inestimable Mollie Hemingway has a great piece here.

The Farkas revelations too have been ignored.

Ahem…

Yeah, no media bias here… move along.

Obviously, the MSM is waiting for their cues from the DNC, via the New York Times, Washington Post and AP — all of which have turned a blind eye to a story that if it was committed by a Republican would be 24/7 news.

Eventually we’ll see a few dimwitted Dem parrots… er… politicians will chime in reinforcing the anointed meme. Clearly the DNC hasn’t figured out the angle yet.

Question, if the MSM doesn’t cover something, is it still news? (Their answer is ‘No.’)

We’re Farked!

It seems now that Evelyn “Park Yer” Farkas is desperately walking back her claims on MSNBC to have been involved in an anti-Trump classified intelligence distribution network that existed in the late Obama administration; and kicked into overdrive during its dying days to distribute (leak) the info to the MSM before they were kicked out of the White House.

The story has been essentially ignored by the major media but that didn’t stop Farkas from issuing a denial, claiming that she didn’t say what she clearly said. She described her MSNBC excerpt as being a “strange” and “edited” video that she didn’t recognize. Next she’ll be insisting that she was drugged, it was a pod person, a human robot created by Persona Synthetics, a doppelganger that appeared on MSDNC…er, MSNBC.

Obviously someone got to her and pointed out that she had just laid out a vast (illegal) conspiracy that she eagerly participated in.

Even worse, from the view of Democrats and the MSM, she validated Trump’s wiretapping claim. It’s hard to build a fake news meme when people on the side of the perpetrators confirm they were in league in instigating the very news that you are declaring is fake.

It’s reminiscent of the old Nixon-era Henry Kissinger quote, “Just because you are paranoid doesn’t mean they aren’t out to get you.”

Farkas is the perfect specimen of the young highly-paid, politically-powerful, credentialed ninnies that proliferated throughout the Obama administration (Think Marie Harf). Arrogant, wholly lacking in experience, clueless and ignorant, they feel as if they have carte blanche because they are just so smart and so superior and so entitled to have power and to use it without consequence. These are the soldiers of the left-wing army deployed in conquest of total power. These are the people who will obediently, even gladly sign orders sending people with whom they disagree to reeducation camps and ultimately they’ll sign execution lists. They powered Soviet Russia, Nazi Germany, Red China, Khmer Rouge Cambodia, Castro’s Cuba… This new group has no historical knowledge of those eras and they don’t want any or care for any. They already know everything and they know what is best. Now get on that train car…

And This Guy Goes to Jail?

The Democrats and the media (one and the same) claimed another pair of Republican scalps with the conviction of former Chris Christie aides Bill Baroni and Bridget Kelly concerning traffic on a New Jersey bridge. Somehow Baroni and Kelly engineered for the New Jersey transpo people to realign some lanes on the bridge to cause chaos in retaliation for the local mayor’s refusal to endorse Christie’s run for governor.

Yes, monkey with traffic lanes — you know, kind of like what Democrat politicians do all the time when they want to cause chaos to press for more highway funds. “If we only had more (Federal) money we could fix these problems!”

But these were Republicans so the book was tossed at them.

However, my big point is that these two got actual jail time (he two years and she 18 months) for what was a messy political tug of war. Meanwhile, Hillary Clinton and the Clinton Crime Crew are still free despite committing several high crime felonies, notably the whole email server setup and then lying about it and then destroying evidence and then dissembling to investigators, etc…

Meanwhile, we have a steady state of leakage of classified (anti-Trump) information by Obama holdovers in the government and no one, at least in the Democratic Party or the media, benefiting from these leaks, is demanding investigations and then some hides in jail.

Then we get the Evelyn Farkas revelations that she was an (anti-Trump) information wrangler in the later days of the Obama administration. She had been a deputy assistant secretary of defense in the Obama administration (Oy!) until she left to join the Hillary Clinton campaign in 2015. So, after Hill was put down, Farkas (and others) apparently spent the interlude before Trump was inaugurated collecting and pushing dissemination of negative Trump info throughout Capitol Hill (and the media). Much, if not all of this information, was classified. Oddly, she was apparently, technically, unemployed at the time, yet had quite a bit of access to various intelligence agencies.

It’s wholly possible, and unclear from her MSNBC interview, that she may have been dealing in this classified information before the election and while still employed by the Clinton campaign. Imagine if this had been a Republican…

Farkas actually seems quite proud of what she did and completely oblivious that she looks to be confessing to a series of felonies and outlining a major Washington-based felony conspiracy that sounds like something out of a movie.

She perfectly characterizes the modern liberal’s belief that they are just so great, and their cause so pure that mere laws do not apply to them.

And they are all scot free…

NCAA Issues Hostage Demands

The NCAA, putatively a nonpartisan college athletics organization, has now demanded that the sate of North Carolina laws enact laws that the NCAA approves of rather than those legislated by the representatives of the citizens of the state or the NCAA will not allow any special NCAA events take place in the state, like, forevuh!

It is specifically trying to promote laws favorable to “transgender” people rather than the vast majority of citizens of the state. It is estimated that “trangendered” people make up less than 1% of the population. In other words 99+% are supposed to bend over backwards to accommodate a confused <1%.

North Carolina’s representatives in Washington need to move against the NCAA and remove its 501(c)(3) nonprofit status since it has become highly politically active, in opposition to its charter. Additionally, the state should move against the organization in civil courts.

The NCAA has become nothing more than a political activist organization and should be treated as such. It is an ally of the Democratic party.

Interestingly, the NCAA has been very circumspect on allowing “transgender” athletes, there are very few of them, to play on the teams they want to play on. Of course hypocrisy is the mark of the liberal.

I have been boycotting the NCAA for awhile now… And found I can live without it. And it also bleeds ESPN. Join me!

So Let Me Get This Straight…

There’s no “evidence” that Trump’s “wires” were “tapped”; he was crazy to make such an accusation our Media/Democrat Industrial Complex tells us.

But, somehow, “U.S. officials” are hinting (actually illegally leaking) that they may have the goods backing up their fake story of “collusion” between Donald Trump and Russians. In fact, FBI Director James “The Kingmaker” Comey, has indicated that the Trump campaign has been surveiled since last summer.

Isn’t wiretapping one of the chief instruments of surveillance, especially long-term? And where is all the content for all these leaks coming from? It certainly sounds like phone conversation transcriptions. How were they obtained if not by wiretaps? Telepathy?

Of course there is the inconvenient fact that apparently at least one computer in the Trump Tower was being monitored by authorities. And what about news stories concerning FISA warrants aimed at Trump or at people near him?

Am I the only one finding it odd that Trump is portrayed as delusional or paranoid for thinking that someone has been watching him and maybe listening in yet, at the very same time, often in the next media story, they provide some kind of vague hint that authorities have evidence from surveillance that Trump and his campaign might be guilty of “collusion.”

They run these stories with a straight face and without the slightest awareness of the inherent conflicts of their stories – one or the other of these stories could be true but not both. Or they are aware of these conflicts and are just willing to blatantly lie while doing the dirty work of taking Trump down?

I’m entering a new phrase into the lexicon – media as warfare by other means. That is what we are experiencing.

Misunderestimating the Enemy

Many conservatives are ecstatic that Donald Trump consistently outplays the socialist party (i.e. the Democrats) and their media skirmishers.

They applauded his assertion that Obama had “tapped his wires,” many claiming this rendered the “Trump is a Putin puppet” and “Russia hacked the election” memes moot.

Just this week there’s talk that Rachel Madcow’s “exposure” of Trump’s tax returns from 2005 now washes the “Trump & Taxes” meme away because the returns don’t show anything negative (begging the question why Madcow breathlessly pimped these things — did she not understand them? Very possibly.) Some have even suggested that Trump himself may have done it just to neutralize the issue.

The problem with these angles is that they rely on the public comprehending the points and following the argument. In other words, it relies on a “rationality.”

This works fine on conservative websites with knowledgeable readers but your average person, reliant on getting the information from, or rather filtered by, the lamestream media, the propaganda arm of the socialist party.

It also relies on the dubious point that the media is rational and cannot ignore particular details of the story.

If you don’t think the media can peddle two conflicting narratives at the same time, you haven’t been paying attention for the last few decades. The Democrat-Media Complex can easily trot out Trump=Russian Puppet narrative while burying or soft-peddling Obama administration wiretapping.I hear it all the time.

Didn’t you notice how the media managed to whitewash the Clinton email scandal — rarely, if ever, mentioning felonies, FOIA, Hillary’s endless contradictions and changing story, and more? How many major media stories did you see on the Clinton Foundation’s various scams? That number would be zero…

Remember the whole Scooter Libby farce?Reported from Day One exactly as the Democratic Party fed it to the media.

No, my friends, sadly, festering Black Plague stories can easily be buried by the MSM.

It is precisely because this threatens liberal icons and shibboleths that these stories are distorted or selectively reported.

What the public is hearing is Trump=Russian Puppet, Election=Hacked by Russia because that’s what they are being told by the media. The propagandists are not obligated to report the truth or facts that they don’t like. This morning on WTOP they easily skipped that the tax returns did not have any “gotchas” in it. They quickly and seamlessly focused on points such as Trump hasn’t released all of his returns and winked that there must be bad things in those others; these returns had to be “leaked“ (without even exploring on the illegality of such an act); and, everyone knows, that the public has demanded that Trump release his tax returns but he hasn’t.

WTOP featured some reporter from CBS News Radio who effortlessly danced around the facts and hammered on the “politics” of the issue, which he was confident were a loser for Trump. Trump is always a loser in the eyes of the media folks.

The end result is that much of the public, catching bits and pieces of a complicated issue, imbibes Trump & Taxes=Bad. They really don’t know why it’s bad, it just is because it was reported as so.

This is how the “free press” is working these days.

Similarly, over the weekend and this week was the “U.S. Attorneys” story. Talk about fake news.

WTOP radio giddily repeated the talking points handed out by the Democrats, with breathless whining that several of these attorneys were caught off-guard and were frantically trying to get their subordinates up to speed on cases (Um, WTOP, it is those lower level attorneys who are actually up to speed since they do the work). It was only the last sentence wherein the newsreader quietly mentioned that the replacement of U.S. Attorneys by incoming administrations wasn’t unusual.

So the media is in the job of reporting things that are not unusual, WTOP?

But at least WTOP mentioned the truth, most others left the typical citizen completely in the dark and thinking that the outrageous Trump had perpetuated another outrageous thing (because that’s what he does), maybe even another “Saturday Night Massacre.” That’s a bad thing.

Then there was the absurdity of someone like Preet Bharara and several other Obama admin leftovers implying they didn’t have to resign their posts, as if those jobs belonged to them for as long as they wanted them. That they served at the pleasure of the president was rarely ever pointed out and never the subject of any MSM treatment of the story.

Were these angles used when the incoming Obama administration began removing Bush-apppointed U.S. Attorneys? No. The last timed those angles were explored was when the incoming Bush administration began relieving Clinton holdovers. This is only a story when it’s a Republican administration.

Hey, MSM how about this story angle, “Power-Crazed Political Appointees From Previous Administration Refuse to Leave Offices”? It’s more accurate than what you went with.

If the media had any decency, ethics or shame they’d hang their heads in shame.

But that’s not the goal of this exercise in disinformation. The goal: the public hears Trump & U.S Attorneys=Bad.

Mission accomplished.

As we have learned time and time again, when it comes to the media and the socialist-controlled public culture facts don’t matter.

The Clintons have painfully taught us on numerous occasions — perception is all. Libtards understand this, conservatives by and large still don’t. They are too busy trying to win a debate with the facts and rationality, failing to understand that the media will distort the debate, pluck emotional strings, spin it in the Democrats’ favor and that is all most people will ever see.
