An Example of Libtard Arrogance

I’ve been meaning to write a blurb on the Matt Damon/Stella Artois (Interbrew) commercial/PSA about the “global water crisis.”

Yeah, despite all those glaciers melting and the seas rising, soon to overwhelm New York City, there’s a shortage of water in some places.

They usually call those places deserts and the third-world. Making sure you have a steady supply of clean water is a sure sign of a modern, competent civilization.

Anyway, the company touts its efforts to get clean, fresh water to women (not to men? Aren’t they thirsty too?). It’s kind of a well-meaning program and would certainly be commendable as a stop-gap for emergencies.

The thing that gets me is Matt’s close: “We can be the generation that ends the global water crisis.”

Wow, that’s a big goal.

I like big thinking but, somehow, I doubt handing out water bottles individually is really going to end the “global water crisis.” Certainly not in the next few years.

The lack of even distribution of water resources has been a problem for quite a long time.

Depending on the location, there are only a few easily identified conditions causing a water problem.

It’s usually a lack of precipitation, cultural dysfunction, poor government or a mixture of those.

This is yet another example of the arrogant libtard’s strange fantasy world. A world where they can will things that have failed others. They are sure they can undo King Canute’s point that there are things beyond man’s control.

It’s like the endless “causes” they are obsessed with; that seem to make up their whole life. It’s always just a matter of throwing money at a problem, wearing a ribbon, walking a few miles, lighting a candle, signing a petition, going to an event, visiting a website, being really, really, really concerned. If we just perform one of more of these rituals, the cause will magically be resolved.

We can cure X or stop Y if we just try; as if people hadn’t tried before (and the libtard, in another display of their patented arrogant ignorance, is usually sure that no one ever did try until he came along).

The arrogance and conceit of these people is monumental and they are completely oblivious to it.

I would love to get some odds from Damon on ending that water crisis.

How Is Trump Like Global Warming?

Those who have been around a few years can recall the very specific predictions that used to be issued by global warming con men like Al Gore. Back at the end of the Clinton administration, doom-laden prognostications included things like New York City being practically underwater in… well… right about now. Temperatures were going to continue to rise until the world was one big desert, except where it was Waterworld-style ocean — all at the same time. It would no longer rain or snow, except where it rained and snowed in Biblical quantities. Tornadoes and hurricanes would roll year-round all over the planet.

Of course, 20 years later none of these things happened. New York is not underwater (despite Pres. Obama’s claim that Miami was underwater at high tide — a ludicrous claim that the media buried though one can imagine the firestorm if Donald Trump had said such a thing) and the temperature graphs have become so laughable that one could drive a semi between the real temperatures and the predicted/expected temperatures (that doesn’t even take into account the manipulation of some temperature records by NOAA). And the U.S. has gone through a record period of hurricane nonvisitation.

You’d think that would humble some people but, as we see, it didn’t. The hucksters, now renamed “climate change” activists have simply redoubled their efforts.

All of this leads me to Donald Trump.

Liberals, led by the Media-Entertainment-Academic Complex and the Democrat Party, promised that with ascension of Donald Trump all sorts of bad things would happen. The stock market would collapse; the world would erupt in flames; minorities of all stripes would be thrown into jail or possibly even tossed onto pyres; slavery would be reinstituted and fascism would be the official religion of the United States.

Well, like global warming predictions, all of these have proven wildly incorrect.

So what is it with the liberals that they feel compelled to insist that whenever their oh-so sage advice is not followed hyperdoom consequences will ensue? Why does everything with them have to be so histrionic, so Manichean?

Sadly, we are seeing the manifestations of this on college campuses where we have so-called students squealing that they are oppressed and being “marginalized.” Yes, the most pampered, coddled, spoiled, patronized, overfed children in history live in some kind of fantasy where they are oppressed victims akin to gulag zeks, medieval galley slaves or concentration camp inmates. It boggles the mind yet it is the world we are now living in. What is to be done with this next generation of delusional liberals?

Two for Reading

Here are a couple of highly recommended pieces I came across today that you might have missed.

The always spot-on Heather Mac Donald takes a look at the insanity behind the increasing romanticization of the 1992 Los Angeles riots in “Venerating Havoc.” Academia’s support in this evil movement only guarantees that we’ll be cranking out more deluded SJWs in the future. Are there no adults left running our academic institutions?

If Kurt Schlichter isn’t the best columnist out there I don’t know who is. Of course the feeling that he’s channeling me is just a coincidence.

His latest, “100 Days of #TheResistance’s Humiliating Failure” nails it. These “Resistance” people are living in a fantasy land. On my recent business trip I saw two guys wearing drab gray “Resistance”-themed t-shirts. One, at the Minneapolis-St. Paul airport, was an obvious college kid who had the look of an artsy major with no talent beyond bagging/scamming college girls.

The other, at an early morning layover in Cincinnati (technically northern Kentucky), was a middle-aged man who should have known better though there was the air of beta male about him.

The Lowest Common Denominator

I recently finished a week-long business trip. On the first leg of the flight out, the first thing one of the stewardesses announced in the air was that there was a “peanut allergy” onboard so we’d have no peanut snacks.

I’ve never been on a plane where this was announced though I’m pretty sure that of the hundred or more flights I’ve been on there were some folks onboard that were allergic to peanuts.

Okay, there were still cookies and pretzels available (until the ‘wheat allergy’ onboard squawks in their desire for victim equivalency fame).

Now here’s where things get completely absurd. I had a bag of toffee peanuts and one of the stews made me stop eating them. I wasn’t sharing them or throwing them at anyone but peanuts had become verboten.

Maybe I should have pulled a Dr. Dao and challenged the stewardess’s control.

This is where the nanny state and the victimhood society are out of control. We’re being driven by the desire to accommodate lowest common denominators. We have 1% driving the activities of the other 99%. (Wow, that sounds suspiciously like gay marriage and gender confused people policies as well).

I’m (deathly) allergic to aspirin, yet I do not expect the world to stop and cater to my problem. I watch out and check products and go on my merry way.

Yet somehow, “Peanut Allergy” demands the world grind to a halt and cater to them.

Hey, “Peanut Allergy,” there are peanuts at the airport we’re heading to and I’ve heard there are peanuts in most every city you’re likely to visit — at least until the next Democrat administration begins the great peanut purge (and begins funding nonallergic peanut substitute research).

As a society, driven by liberalism, we’re heading downhill. People no longer seem to be able to take care of themselves but rely on authorities to take care of them, to protect them… from life itself. If they have any kind of weakness, no matter how minor or peripheral, they demand accommodation rather than putting up with their problem in an attitude of humility and wishing to not inconvenience others.

The modern libtard snowflake mentality is to inconvenience as many people as possible. It’s tied in with their intolerance of dissenting views. They expect everyone to be like them and any deviation must be crushed — even if it is the vast majority of people.

Dao Played the Race Card

As details emerge from the “Dr.” David Dao-United Airlines incident, it is quickly beginning to resemble an urban myth like “Hands up, don’t shoot!”

It turns out that when Dao was first asked to leave, steeped as he no doubt is in politically correct grievance-mongering, he immediately reached for the race card and asked if he was being asked to leave because he is of Asian descent.

When police officers arrived he challenged them to drag him out of the seat. They proceeded to do that while he squealed like a misbehaving child being sent to “timeout.”

My guess is that Dao is a long-time bully, playing on political correctness to get his way all the time. He’s not used to be told no and thus he reacted like a spoiled child.

This cannot stand. Terrorist planners watching this incident are taking notes and will see that the best way to get onboard, possibly unexamined, will be to send a minority who will play the race card if confronted. Or play the Islamophobia card.

If Dao triumphs, most gate and ground crew will simply avoid examining or confronting a minority for fear of their jobs and retribution from Twitter mobs and possibly PC enforcers in the government.

We have been warned.

The Dao of United

The “Dr.” David Dao-United Airlines story shows that the infantilization of America continues.

Ignoring the monumental stupidity of United Airlines chucking paying passengers in favor of employee “deadheads,” I have to be a contrarian and say that the bad guy here is David Dao.

A few things need to be understood in this case.

The cabin crew has significant legal powers backed by federal laws. They act with the power of the pilot, who is captain of the ship, just like a ship at sea. While you are on his/their craft, you are subject to that authority. Passengers are to obey their commands or risk being removed or restrained. The cabin crew must retain control of the cabin.

There was no other option once Dao had escalated the situation. He had to go.

Because you paid for a seat does not mean you own that seat or you can disregard the crew if you don’t like one of their commands.

Do you want the lowest common denominator in control of the cabin? How long before he goes off again?

What happens when this guy decides he needs to go to the bathroom and he doesn’t want to wait?

What happens if he doesn’t like the food options or doesn’t want to pay for them?

What if he wants a drink? Was he drunk? On medication? (I suspect he is on medication and probably under psychiatric care.)

What if he decides the cute chick next to him should be his wife?

What do you do with unreasonable people in close quarters?

The success of transportation systems is that everyone obeys the rules and they are simple rules, usually not too outrageous (though this is the airline industry). Everyone must be in compromise-mode and turn the self-centered mechanism off (even when Jabba the Hutt next to you insist upon hogging both arm rests). Personal space is very small and everyone, other than David Dao, understands that.

But what we had here was an alleged mature, grown man, a “Doctor!”, act like a spoiled brat.

How often have you been in a grocery store and witnessed a small child scream and throw themselves on the floor because mom won’t get them the candy or toy they want? And how often have you thought, that lady needs to get that kid under control?

Well, you just saw the same thing. Why is this different?

Actually it’s worse because Dao, theoretically an adult, is supposed to know how to behave; how to deal with bad and difficult situations.

Dao should have grumbled, shuffled his feet, maybe threatened legal action as he left the plane and then complain loudly to United customer service. Complain to the local newspaper, bad mouth United to everyone.

But what we now have is a reward for being an unreasonable, self-centered child.

Ever since the Baby Boomers ascended the cultural heights, there’s been an increasing desire to extend childhood into adulthood — to make life one big, long childhood romp. I guess this incident is a logical result.

Some random thoughts.

Does anyone think that Dao could have been reasoned with? I’m sure every parent reading this knows deep down, that answer is no.

Is your discomfort based on how ugly the incident was? We occasionally hear of planes setting down to remove unruly passengers.

Would you have wanted to sit next to this guy? Especially if United had let him have his way?

Hey, terrorists are paying attention. They just noted that making a scene will allow one to get one’s way — aided by shrieking women and fools recording things with their cellphones and hopping onto “social media.”

It’s frickin’ O’Hare Airport not Nome International — there’s a bazillion flights leaving all the time. Dao could have easily taken another one, probably all of 20 minutes later. United likely could have booked him a first class trip on one though I have the suspicion that like the small child he is, he was never going to voluntarily leave the plane.

A lot of conservatives and libertarians have convinced themselves that had United offered enough money (say, $23 million?), this whole ugly mess could have been avoided. Sorry, guys, that’s you projecting your rational thinking onto someone who is clearly irrational. That maniac isn’t responding to monetary offers. He’d just as likely have responded to a trail of Skittles leading off the plane.

Does anyone want “Dr.” David Dao treating them? Does this guy have the temperament to be making possibly life and death decisions?

Maybe he’s not really a “Dr.” but more like a “Napoleon” at the loony bin?

Well, no matter what, this has just lowered air travel a notch lower. And I have a business trip in two weeks (though I’m not on United).

We’re Farked!

It seems now that Evelyn “Park Yer” Farkas is desperately walking back her claims on MSNBC to have been involved in an anti-Trump classified intelligence distribution network that existed in the late Obama administration; and kicked into overdrive during its dying days to distribute (leak) the info to the MSM before they were kicked out of the White House.

The story has been essentially ignored by the major media but that didn’t stop Farkas from issuing a denial, claiming that she didn’t say what she clearly said. She described her MSNBC excerpt as being a “strange” and “edited” video that she didn’t recognize. Next she’ll be insisting that she was drugged, it was a pod person, a human robot created by Persona Synthetics, a doppelganger that appeared on MSDNC…er, MSNBC.

Obviously someone got to her and pointed out that she had just laid out a vast (illegal) conspiracy that she eagerly participated in.

Even worse, from the view of Democrats and the MSM, she validated Trump’s wiretapping claim. It’s hard to build a fake news meme when people on the side of the perpetrators confirm they were in league in instigating the very news that you are declaring is fake.

It’s reminiscent of the old Nixon-era Henry Kissinger quote, “Just because you are paranoid doesn’t mean they aren’t out to get you.”

Farkas is the perfect specimen of the young highly-paid, politically-powerful, credentialed ninnies that proliferated throughout the Obama administration (Think Marie Harf). Arrogant, wholly lacking in experience, clueless and ignorant, they feel as if they have carte blanche because they are just so smart and so superior and so entitled to have power and to use it without consequence. These are the soldiers of the left-wing army deployed in conquest of total power. These are the people who will obediently, even gladly sign orders sending people with whom they disagree to reeducation camps and ultimately they’ll sign execution lists. They powered Soviet Russia, Nazi Germany, Red China, Khmer Rouge Cambodia, Castro’s Cuba… This new group has no historical knowledge of those eras and they don’t want any or care for any. They already know everything and they know what is best. Now get on that train car…
