La Media

The indispensable Mollie Hemingway gets straight to the point in yet another ridiculous media-generated fake news story — the Steve Bannon says “Shut Up” to the media.

Hemingway nails the media on its misreporting, blatant deception (Hey, did you know Obama aide Anita Dunn said almost thing to the media at the beginning of the Obama administration? Their was no angry response from the media lapdogs then.) and ultimately takes them to task for massive failure in their duty, noting that they have misinterpreted this large portion of the citizenry and instead of apologizing and trying to correct their error, they’ve redoubled their mistaken efforts.

What’s more infuriating, the media’s purposeful misreporting of the story through clipping the quote to make “Trump advisor” Bannon, and thus Trump, look bad or their puffed up pomposity that they are making some kind of brave stand and striking a great blow for democracy through their unremitting counterrevolution against the fascist Trump junta?

Do they stand in front of a mirror while reciting these lines with trumpet flourishes playing through their earbuds? They often now seem to be modern incarnations of goofy characters from some forgotten opera, La Media.

They are playing a dangerous game increasingly alienating a significant portion of America with their nonstop naked partisanship and ceaseless attacks on anyone who isn’t a fellow traveler. The media comes with a smile but looks to bear a knife.

This odd story makes one wonder, “Insiders Say NBC Is Building ‘the Next Fox News.’” I’m not sure whether NBC understands what made Fox a success. Is this an honest attempt and a realization that maybe they’ve overplayed their hand or is it just a ruse? Do they understand that declaring cultural war on over 30% of the country might not be the greatest business decision — especially when there are several competitors plumbing the increasingly extreme libtard well.

Well, we’ll see. I’ll believe it when I see it.

A Trump Gift

I just came from checking in on my Yahoo! Sports fantasy hockey team. Whenever you log out of your fantasy team you are dumped onto Yahoo!’s news page. It has for months done nothing more on the political front than run anti-Trump stories. I have yet to see a positive story or anything negative on Hillary Clinton.

That’s not an accident.

Sadly, this is typical of every major news outlet (with the exception of Fox News and it has been drifting leftward lately).

If nothing else, Donald Trump needs to be congratulated for wiping away any doubt (if there had remained) that the American news media is nothing more than a propaganda arm and disinformation agent for the Democratic Party.

I’ll not catalog their calumny beyond noting that if a Republican candidate had Hillary Clinton’s record of incompetence and criminality they’d have been destroyed long ago. Clinton makes Nixon and Harding look like choirboys. Her email server and the compromising of American secrets, American institutions and employees under her may be unmatched in history. The failure of the media to even do the basic in reporting is unforgivable.

So what to do?

I doubt the media will reform itself. Liberals do not hire conservatives or anyone that isn’t going to toe the line and swear fealty to gods of liberalism. And increasingly the corporate suites are packed with liberals — many now out of the closet and unafraid to use their companies as weapons of mass destruction against their American enemies and in servitude to international socialism.

One thing that can be done is to boycott what you can. After the hockey season I expect I’ll abandon Yahoo! completely. Does anyone know a good fantasy sports website? I have to admit that Yahoo! did fantasy sports well.

I make it a point to avoid linking to MSM (e.g. major networks, Washington Post, et al) stories in the blog. I encourage other bloggers to do the same. It’ll cut down on the click numbers for them.

Don’t buy their papers. I doubt sending letters to the editors mean anything any longer. I think they just dismiss the writers as racists, Nazis, bigots, etc.

Avoid the big TV networks and their programming.

As I’ve mentioned previously, I’m now boycotting the NFL, NBA and NCAA. I haven’t slipped yet and supposedly ratings for the NFL are down.

I’m learning and enjoying hockey and catching the last of the baseball season. I’m watching golf more and David Feherty is clearly a conservative but politics are basically left out of these sports and no one seems impelled to let the viewers know how hip, cool or progressive they are.

The liberal media corporations (and their sports allies) need to feel the consequences of their actions.

Our Borg Left

Can there be any doubt that anything that the left touches becomes corrupted.

Here is a story about the nominally nonpartisan Committee to Protect Journalists. Now it has come out with a statement that Donald Trump is an unprecedented threat to press freedom though it insists that it’s not taking sides in the upcoming election. They said that with a straight face.

Seriously.

Admittedly any group of journalists is likely to be left-leaning and it is usually just a matter of time before it removes any pretense and just goes whole-hog into auxiliary service of the Democratic Party.

Interestingly, Hillary Clinton has her own plans to limit press freedoms. She wants to outlaw stories, movies, whatever, that paint politicians in a bad light.

CPJ seems to have missed that. Probably because most of their members decided not to report negative stories about Hillary Clinton.

And then there’s this piece about our wonderful public education system, which was drafted into service of the Democratic Party a long time ago.

I guess the surprising thing about this “letter” drafted by several “Teachers of the Year” is that they hadn’t done this before.

They certainly don’t hold back, pretty much equating Trump with the most heinous villains in history.

They also trot out lots of perfect moppet anecdotes of fear with tots crying on cue, “Mr. Supersmawt teacher, why does that scawwy Donald Twump want to huwt me?”

Our humble teachers are taking this extraordinary step… to save the children (from the Abominable Trumble).

Remember back during the first Clinton interregnum when so much of their calumny (especially at the EPA) was committed “for the children.”

Of course all of this couched in the insufferability that the conceited teaching profession has polished to a high sheen. These people think a lot of themselves and little of anyone who thinks differently (i.e. isn’t a liberal). To think, these people are paid by the taxpayer that these teachers so loathe.

The public education system needs to be torn down, sown with salt and its braying donkey membership put to digging ditches or handing out sippy straws and butt pillows at the old folks home… er… retirement community – actual, productive jobs rather than the well-compensated, publicly-funded liberal propagandameisters that they are now.

I’m not the first to note that the left ruins everything it touches and turns those things into tools of liberal propaganda, coercion, cultural and political warfare. Anything that resists is targeted for destruction.

Like the Borg, you will be assimilated or destroyed. There is no refuge from them.

The Madness of the Liberal

The Post Drops Into St. Cloud is one of those must reads from Power Line that has to be read to be believed for its description of pure idiocy. The Washington Post story in question is truly Olympic Gymnastics Gold Medal-winning in its ability to twist logic into a pretzel and turn the world upside down.

The Washington Post reporters do everything but say that the horrible, bigoted people of St. Cloud, Minn., had it coming to them because they’ve been so mean to and misunderstanding of those kind, harmless, pacific Somali immigrants.

It would be impossible to find a better example of typical, daily modern journalistic malpractice. Journalists are completely clueless on how much they are despised, not trusted and they are similarly clueless on how most Americans live and feel. And they wonder why their subscribers, readership and audiences have dropped over the last few decades. Washington Post circulation was plummeting even before the internet started hollowing it out. Treating a substantial portion of your readership (i.e. conservatives in the Washington area) as fools, idiots, bigots, etc., is a recipe for disaster. And that happened. The internet simply meant that conservatives didn’t have to bite the bullet to get sports, classified ads and movie reviews. The internet also hammered its loyal liberal readership.

The reporters seem to be from a whole ‘nother planet and see something completely different than what the rest of us see.

Media bias aside, there remains the question — What are they thinking?

It’s clear that the Somali immigrants, at least some of them, are ingrates. An American community has taken them in, provided them with homes, education, charity, welfare and opportunities. And they’ve given them safety. Had they stayed in Somalia where would they be? How many would be dead? Enslaved? Press-ganged into a Muslim militia or warlord gang? How many would be living day-to-day, just trying to eke out a life? Very likely most if not all.

Did I mention these people are ingrates?

It is also clear that a significant portion of the St. Cloud Somali “community” hasn’t assimilated into the local actual St. Cloud community. It seems to be that the Somalis have no interest in assimilating.

So why did we/do we import people unwilling to integrate? It’s one thing to allow in the cream of the crop — those who want to come to America because they want to change their lives for the better and understand America’s greatness. That may have been 10,000 or so but mass immigration from people who will brook no assimilation and plan to simply move their physical presence from a hellhole to a nice place and then take advantage of the generosity of America, the local hosts and glom onto every welfare benefit they can – enabled and encouraged by bureaucrats and Democrats — is a recipe for disaster.

We did not allow the immigration of millions of communists during the cold war – that would have been foolish (even most Democrats, then, did not want that). We took in the refuseniks and objectors not the ones wanting to turn the U.S. into a copy of the home they left. So why are we practically begging to bring in hundreds of thousands, nee, millions, of Muslim immigrants, most of whom have no interest in assimilating?

This is madness. What is wrong with you, liberals?

Why import people who hate us? Do you think it really makes you superior? It only makes you a delusional fool. Along with suicidal and dangerous.

Do you travel to the tropics and eagerly seek out pestilential mosquitoes? Would you have eagerly sought out AIDS? Ebola?

Stop it!

One final point, Hillary Clinton wants to continue this suicidal parade. Donald Trump has questioned it.

Misreporters

My local radio news station is WTOP. It is the highest grossing radio station in the U.S. It’s pretty much considered the news station that others seek to emulate. I catch it in the morning for some news but mostly sports, traffic and weather.

Sadly, it rarely gives Republicans or conservatives any respect or the benefit of the doubt, much less a favorable story. It’s basically just another standard issue news media liberal propaganda provider.

To its news readers and reporters any long gun is an “assault weapon” and it eagerly repeats, uncritically, whatever the latest press release is from Handgun Inc. or other gun confiscation groups. It won’t call the NRA evil but will use critics to spout that while no one is allowed to explain the group’s positions honestly.

It instituted a new segment, at the 20-minute mark each hour, called “To Your Health.” It’s nothing more than parroting whatever health scare “study” press release they have received. There is never any of that famous reporter “skepticism” that we hear about in so many movies, episodes of “Lou Grant” and journalism industry articles. Never anybody asking, “Isn’t this the opposite of what we heard last month, last year?” It’s so goofy that not too long ago one news reader chortled, “Is chocolate good for us this week or bad?”

My latest complaint is their sanctimonious coverage of the “North Carolina law.” WTOP is basically reading press releases from the disingenuously-named Human Rights Campaign as news stories. Just this morning they described it as an “anti-LGBT law.” The other day they said it “removes important protections for the LGBT community.” This is blatant misreporting. They’ve yet to explain what the law actually means, what it actually does and why it was enacted. It’s all straight propaganda. I’d dare say that a large portion of the station’s listeners don’t know the story behind the law so they uncritically accept what WTOP reports as accurate.

Nothing gets the blood of the contemporary reporter going more than one of those “causes” wherein they see themselves as the modern equivalent of a civil rights worker battling the Klan in the 1950s. So many issues are framed that way these days.

On a related note, the Associated Press recently released the latest update to its famed “Style Guide.” The AP Style Guide is a journalism profession institution. It is designed to get AP’s farflung reporters and stringers on the same page — use the same terminology, spell things the same way and it has a lot of definitions and explanations of certain things that not all reporters might be familiar with. By and large it’s not a bad book and most journalism entities adhere to it. “Knowing AP style” is a prerequisite for many publishing jobs.

The regular updates usually reflect changes in word usage and feedback from reporters on things they don’t know and need to know the details on. So the update did things like change “Internet” to “internet.” But one odd entry was a detailed explanation on what “canonization” is.

Yes, AP felt it needed to explain to modern reporters what “canonization” is.

This reflects the distance that has developed between modern journalism and religion. Considering that most every reporter of a certain age would know from experience or their own life what “canonization” is (even reporters with Protestant backgrounds), this is a disturbing portent. But religion is being so successfully expelled from all facets of modern life that people are growing up without a clue on a major tenet of Catholicism. No offense to Lutherans, but this isn’t trying to understand the difference between Missouri Synod and Wisconsin Synod.

I grew up in pure-Protestant southern states and even I knew what canonization was. It would be hard to be sentient in the United States and not know. But somehow it is come to be.

Yet these people are the people reporting our “news.”

No wonder we have special snowflakes on campus, an anti-American fool in the White House, Hillary Clinton still free (possibly the next president) and politically correct tyranny ruling the land.

Scots — Not High on Trump

Caught a story on CBS Radio this morning. They sent a reporter (Mark Phillips) to a Scottish island that they said Donald Trump’s ancestors hailed from. They’re a jolly lot we are told though the reporter insisted they weren’t so jolly about Trump. And to prove the point he had a local fellow with a light brogue mumble something that Trump wasn’t that great. He didn’t bother to look for anyone else or someone who said anything nice so that settled that.

Message — Trump=bad. If his distant relations, 50 times removed don’t like him, how could anyone vote for him!?!

Then the reporter talked about how the Irish loved JFK and even Reagan too! (This is part of the beating-current-Republicans-with-the-Reagan-stick tactic that liberals are now deploying. Suddenly they fondly remember The Gipper.)

Heck, the reporter insisted, even Obama’s distant Irish relatives loved him. Apparently nobody could be found in Ireland to say anything negative about him. (They couldn’t do a quick Internet search? I can do one and find plenty of Irish to say negative things about him but that would require some work and it would also require interfacing with people who might not be reliably liberal. That’s not typically acceptable to a reporter [unless said nonliberal is going to say something bad about the Republican/conservative]).

I eagerly await the same story from Hillary Clinton’s or Bernie Sanders’s ancestors’ haunts… Yep, gonna wait right here cuz I’m sure the mainstream media is all about equal coverage… Just like they did those in-depth stories on Obama’s background… Yep, waiting… No doubt they are working on them right now…

More Free Stuff!

This little item popped up last week, somewhat under the radar — a free Internet (for some people — AKA regular Democrat voters) proposal from the modern Santa Claus, the Obama White House and its puppet, the Federal Communications Commission.

As I’ve been telling people for some time, the “free phone” “entitlement” would morph into free Internet and here we see the first step. This is also related to the designation of the Internet and related entities as “Title II,” i.e. a utility that can be heavily regulated by government. Liberals will not rest until the Internet is part of the government’s portfolio and under its oversight and control. Eventually there will be a Dept. of Communication with a cabinet-level secretary. Bank on it.

Unless it is stopped.

The acorn of this mighty oak was a Reagan-era program. Reagan had a soft spot for Social Security and old folks (he philosophically knew better but couldn’t resist the sad stories). His idea was that no old person would be trapped without some kind of basic phone service, at least for emergencies. Immediately an income rider was attached so that “the poor,” no matter their age, would also be eligible. You knew then that it would be expanded and expanded. And so it was, slowly at first. Then, a few decades letter, it exploded with the Obamaphone program for getting wireless phones to those who might not have them. And now Internet “access” is being folded in, because, well, it’s just not “fair” that some people have Internet and some don’t.

I’m going to say something that has become controversial as liberalism has become increasingly more dominant in our culture. There needs to be a penalty for being poor. There needs to be some impetus, reason, encouragement for people to make themselves unpoor.

But the left likes people to be poor. It likes them to become dependent upon the government — for a few things at first, but increasingly more and more of the creature comforts. After awhile — a few years, a few generations they don’t mind being poor. It’s not so bad to be poor because everyone has enough to eat (except when it’s time to make hay about ‘hunger); everybody has shelter (other than those voluntarily homeless or mentally disturbed and when it comes time to make hay about ‘homelessness’); everybody is getting health care (except when it comes time make hay about ‘health care’); everybody has educational opportunities and increasingly a free or heavily subsidized college (except when it time to make hay about ‘education’); and so on.

In many ways they aren’t really poor — certainly in not any traditional and historical sense. Nor are they poor in any comparison to the actual poor in the rest of the world. Most of our “poor” would rate as middle class in most parts of the globe.

They have enough to get by but certainly not enough to actually become no longer dependent upon the government. After a few generations of this, people no longer are capable of taking care of themselves. And why should they, they reason — that’s what the government is for! Big Daddy/Big Mommy/Big Sister/Big Brother and Big Baby.

And they don’t have to pay a nickle for any of it because that wouldn’t be “fair” and they are poor!

Witness life in any Democrat-controlled city. Everything that comes out of the mouths of the local poor is “gimme” and their look is to the government (and the politicians are happy to abide). In their minds the government provides all. They are married to the government. The concept of taking care of themselves or looking to building a private sector is mostly foreign to them. In the rare occasions when it is addressed it is treated with contempt or denounced by politicoes and “stakeholding” activists as a conspiracy by Republicans, conservatives, corporations, enslavers to control them. Those “stakeholders” have a stake in keeping the poor poor.

The poor become completely incapable of understanding that they have already sold their souls to a master — the Democratic Party and its various flying monkey organizations.
