The Zombie Lives

Like a good zombie, the Russia Collusion zombie narrative refuses to die.

Donald Trump Jr. stories keep popping up on radio, TV, newspapers and websites of the MSM. Remarkably uniform, giddily pronouncing young Trump guilty of most everything short of treason (and even that from some Democrats quoted). Everyone of them is indistinguishable from the DNC home page. Not a single one of these pieces expresses any of that traditional skepticism journalists claim they pride themselves in.

The MSM has settled on the line that the Trumps are guilty and any exculpatory material will be ignored or suppressed and not presented.

Since the weekend we’ve learned a little more about this story. From the released emails we’ve learned that Trump fils is a political campaign naif. But he was also being nice to some foreign acquaintances, who clearly took advantage of him.His interaction in most of the emails is de minimis, obviously waiting to see what the “damaging” info was.

In addition it seems clear that the “meeting” was a bait and switch with the Russian lawyer’s real mission to lobby for modification of the Magnitsky Act – a law curtailing U.S. interaction with Russian human rights advisors.

Trump shut the meeting down when it was obvious he had been misled.

Furthermore, we’ve now learned that the lawyer was in the U.S. illegally, yet unhassled by the U.S. authorities (under Obama’s no-seeum-immigration enforcement).

It’s also been learned that said lawyer was not a “Kremlin lawyer” but had contacts with Fusion GPS, a political intelligence/dirty tricks firm that had been working with anti-Trump Republicans but had also then allied itself with the Clinton campaign. Fusion GPS was also the initiator of the false “dossier” filled with misinformation and disinformation on Trump and some of his campaign advisors.

Hmmmmm, that seems like a number of coincidences. Wouldn’t it be great if we had a news media that might look into this?

Oh, one more coincidence, the first of the Trump surveillance FISA warrant requests began immediately after the meeting. These were based on interactions with Russians. How convenient.

This whole meeting is beginning to smell of a set-up.

Side note. Amusingly CBS Radio led one of their stories with “The spigot” of damaging news “was open” then segued into “The latest drip is.” Open spigots aren’t characterized by “drips.” You’d think a leading news outfit would know that.

They also alluded that “Trump allies” thought the Trump Jr. revelations were “a Category 5 hurricane.” I’d love to know who these (unnamed) “allies” were. The MSM is living in its own fantasy world.

One last thought – they squawk about agents of the Kremlin influencing American politics but these are the same news operations that were not remotely interested in the well-documented Chinese connections to the Clinton administration back in the 1990s. Nor have they been interested in the tens of millions of dollars that the Clinton Foundation received from Russian companies and friends of Putin nor the $500,000 that Bill Clinton received from same for a speech shortly after Sec. of State Hillary Clinton approved the sale of a large portion of America’s uranium resources to a Russian company allied to Putin.

Imagine if that had been Republicans – Pulitzer Prizes all around!

Check out Byron York’s piece on this.

Zombie Narrative

Monday morning CBS Radio News endlessly parroted the NY Times/DNC narrative concerning the “meeting” between Donald Trump, Jr. and “a Russian lawyer.” It baldly stated that this was proof of collusion. It indicated that young Trump was there to get dirt on the Hillary Clinton campaign though CBS Radio conveniently failed to explain what that dirt might be (which would have presented evidence that the Kremlin was funding the Clinton campaign – too embarrassing for CBS News to present). Furthermore, they failed to enlighten listeners to Trump’s statements about the charge beyond an out-of-context he said “No meaningful information” was available.

Compounding the highly deceptive piece, CBS Radio continued with an actuality from one Richard Painter. Labeled as a Republican consultant or something like that, Painter castigated the Trump administration, saying they weren’t taking the Russian thing “seriously.”

Yeah, he said that.

Conveniently left out is that Painter is a leading Anti-Trumper and is also suing Trump. Such an exclusion is a serious violation of journalistic ethics. But, hey, anything in resistance, right?

My point isn’t that CBS Radio is a bunch scumbag socialist Democrat sock puppets, that’s a given, my point is that a lot of conservatives think that because the Trump/Russia collusion meme makes no sense whatsoever; because no actual evidence has been “leaked”; or what has been presented is highly distorted innuendo (see above), that this meme will die out, is ineffective, no one believes it and the MSM will eventually drop it.

Not going to happen.

The MSM and socialist Democrats are living in an alternate reality. I’m not joking. They live in an echo chamber where they honestly believe that Trump colluded with the Russians to somehow win the election. And it is simply up to them to find the evidence.

Like any true believer in an article of faith, lack of evidence is not lack of proof. In fact, the greater the lack of proof, and more reliance upon faith, the stronger the bond of belief becomes. As we see with things like the Kennedy-was-killed-by-the-Military-Industrial Complex conspiracy, evidence to the contrary, that a conservative-hating disturbed communist pulled the trigger, becomes even more proof that that did not happen but it has to be the opposite.

I’m not sure where the meme goes. Maybe it will exist like the Valerie Plame-Super Secret Agent-Exposed-by-Dick Cheney meme – completely false but embedded in the minds of many Americans. Or it will plow its own field. I’m pretty sure that the MSM and Democrats can’t drop it, they’ve bet the farm on it. They’ll never admit they were wrong, liberals can’t do that.

I think they will continue to lie, upping the ante each time. Maybe somewhere along the line they get a scalp and declare victory though I doubt they’ll settle for any scalp other than Trump’s.

The question may be, like two bull elks with their antlers locked, who collapses first, the shrinking Democrat-Media Complex or Trump.

We’re likely in explored territory.

A Few Quick Thoughts on Comey

Now that James Comey’s “Historic” has turned out to be a dud for the liberals — at least until the networks, WaPo, NYT, AP, CNN managed to dig something up to distort or simply lie about — here are a few quick thoughts on Comey.

I was surprised that he used the phrase “independent DOJ and FBI.” He has a law degree from the reliable University of Chicago so he must know that the Department of Justice is part of the Executive branch not the Judicial Branch (though he wouldn’t be the first to make this mistake). Has he not been aware that he works for the President all these years. During the Obama administration he certainly seemed to know who his bosses were — Obama, Holder and Lynch.

Then there was the story making the rounds that Comey asked Attorney General Sessions not to be left alone with Trump. Imagine that, an employee asks his immediate supervisor that he not be left alone with the head of the company. Normally the supervisor would laugh.

But it’s sort of understandable. If you’re a company vet that’s built up a nice little fiefdom where you feel you are judge, jury and executioner, the last thing you want is for a new CEO to come in and shake things up. You damn sure don’t want to be in his office alone and having to explain yourself — especially if you aren’t getting your job done and are dragging the company down.

And that’s what Comey was doing. He knew there was nothing to the investigation, that Trump was not the target yet he did nothing to publicly correct the MSM/Democrat lie swarm. He could have but didn’t.

In fact, Comey looks to have been a leaker himself and aided his colleagues in leaking by providing them with material that could be distorted by media character assassins.

Sean Davis has a good summary at The Federalist.

Oops, spoke to soon. Around 9:30 the MSM began dropping stories that Comey testified that Trump fired him to undermine Comey’s investigation and that Trump was a liar. They’re all repeating the same meme, leaving out all the testimony contradicting their reporting for the last several months. It took them about six hours to get this coordinated disinformation campaign going. As of 10 p.m. the stories were popping up one by one at the major media outlets.

A Yuuuuge Mistake

The appointment of “Special Counsel” Robert Mueller by Rod Rosenstein, the point man at the Dept. of Justice for the “Russia Collusion” scam, was a mistake of unfathomable enormity; or to use a favorite Trumpism, a “yuge” mistake.

Weak-kneed GOPe-types are applauding the decision thinking that this somehow neutralizes the issue and will eventually disarm the issue by exposing it for the sham it always was.

Charlie Brown kicking that football Lucy held was also a weak-kneed Republican with complete faith in a sham.

This is nothing more than signing a long-term 20-year lease on a property in a city where you plan to live for only 5 years…

Have these people learned nothing over the decades of “Special Whatever” investigations?

When has any one of these actually performed as advertised?

They always follow the same pattern. They take too long, become fishing expeditions along with roaming far afield, cost too much and become political footballs. They can leak like sieves when Republicans are targeted and in the end they usually get it wrong — just ask Scooter Libby.

The lawyers/investigators working on them use them not as jobs to be done conscientiously and quickly but rather cushy sinecures and stepping stones to bigger Washington law firms, corporate/Wall Street jobs or politics.

We are about to be subjected to four years of leaks to favored reporters at the Washington Post, N.Y. Times, A.P., network news or CNN. We’ll hear usually meaningless microdetails couched in the most histrionic, hyperventilating and hysterical language while the whole procedure moves at a snail’s pace. The media likes and wants it that way, Democrat politicians want it that way and the Special Counsel Office wants it that way. So it will be that way.

Drip, drip, drip.

And Trump will get increasingly frustrated by the whole silliness of the circus. People don’t do things that way in business but they do it way in Washington.

Eventually Mueller, who may not last the full term, will feel compelled to justify his whole high-priced phony-baloney expedition by bringing home a scalp, anyone’s scalp (as long as it’s a Republican scalp — just ask Scooter Libby).

Drain the swamp before the swamp creatures devour you, Mr. President.

BTW, what more can there be at this point that the FBI doesn’t already know or has an idea about?

Oh, will Mueller look into the Seth Rich angle? Yeah, I didn’t think so, Democrats would disapprove, that would disrupt this master scam they’re running.

Scooter Libby Redux

Am I the only person getting a creepy Scooter Libby deja vu on this whole “Trump Campaign Russian Collusion” question?

Look at the similarities.

There’s a whole wildly exaggerated “threat to national security” claim. If you’ll remember select folks (Democrats) were claiming that CIA desk jockey Valerie Plame was practically America’s top spy and now we have folks (Democrats once again) claiming that Russia did something that somehow affected a handful of voters in Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania to vote for Trump or not vote for Hillary. Something vague. Yet in reality it’s obviously a nothingburger on the national security front.

Then there’s the seemingly endless promise that there’s more, if only investigators will look deeper they’ll tie the whole administration into the story and a president will need to be impeached.

Meanwhile, one begins to get the funny feeling that everything that is known is all there is and in the end we’ll discover that five minutes after the investigators started working they already knew the answers. Remember how Patrick Fitzgerald knew who leaked Plame’s name, the putative point of the whole investigation, on Day One. It was Colin Powell aide Richard Armitage not Libby yet Fitzgerald, Javert-like, extended his “investigation” endlessly. Ultimately he caught Libby in a perjury so rickety that Fitzgerald should have been the one sent to jail for abuse of office. Armitage never faced any consequences over the leaking of the name of America’s top secret spy…

We already know the extent of the “collusion.” It’s minimal, coincidental and going nowhere. The whole nut revolves around an unpaid bit-campaign advisor whose business posting several years ago was in Moscow. Throw in the Flynn call to the Russian ambassador to lay some groundwork for Flynn’s upcoming job (not that unusual) and that’s it. Oh, yeah, Trump may have once eaten at the Russian Tea Room or attended a performance of Swan Lake or seen a matroshka doll…

Yet we have the FBI tied up in knots over it all and Democrats in unison demanding another Fitzgerald fishing expedition (which will feel compelled to get a scalp, any scalp, to justify their phony-baloney jobs and all the hot air the Democrats and their media parrots have exhaled).

And of course there’s the great unsaid – Obama’s mockery of Mitt Romney’s warnings on the danger of Russia and Obama’s swearing of fealty to Russian President Dmitri Medvedev in 2012.

Oh, and there’s this from Investors Business Daily pointing out that there was more actual “Russian Collusion” with the Hillary campaign than the Trump campaign. Yet, somehow, that doesn’t get any attention. I wonder why.
