What If It Were Dick Cheney?

Watching the softball coverage, or lack of any coverage at all, of Hillary’s email problems, I can’t help but wonder what the coverage would be if this had been a Republican, say Dick Cheney?

I don’t think it would be any stretch to say it would be 24/7 and several major papers crowing how they had “flooded the zone.” All one has to do to recall the coverage of the “outing” of CIA bureaucrat Valerie Plame or the obsessive coverage of the Scooter Libby case or the planeloads of journalists who went to Alaska to dig up dirt on Sarah Palin within hours of her being named as a vice presidential nominee while essentially none could be bothered to look into Obama’s past.

That “Controversial” North Carolina Law

The law in question is another one of those bathroom laws. Within the last few years liberals, especially the hyperradical “Social Justice Warrior” wing, have been attacking traditional restroom practice — if there’s room, there’d be a restroom for men and a restroom for women and everyone knew where they were supposed to go. Those who might, somehow, be confused were to go to the one that matched their plumbing. But in the upside-down reign of King Barry I, the age of the Millennials and the low-information voter, the SJWs began pushing the once unthinkable concept of allowing men into women’s restrooms under the rubrics of transgenderism, gender dysphoria, etc. (there doesn’t seem to be any matching wave of confused women out there yearning to get into men’s rooms).

Recently the city of Charlotte, run by Democrats, don’tcha know, decided to fall for that silliness and make it legal for men to use women’s rooms under the cover of “supporting” gay and transgender “rights.” The North Carolina state reacted to that law with the “controversial” law to override the city law.

It’s only “controversial” to liberals. In fact, to claim the moral high ground they’ve even tried the trick of implying that the state law is some kind of repeal of long-standing previous practice. You have to give these clowns credit for chutzpah. Reporters, in support of the SJWs (many ‘reporters’ are SJWs), have been aggressively misreporting this issue making it sound as if North Carolina is somehow “out of step” or an “outlier” when in reality it is in the mainstream of America and history. New York magazine described it as a “sweeping anti-LGBT law.” Ah, nothing like idyllic, measured and unbiased journalism…

The actual outliers are the SJWs and those who want to change restroom practice.

“We have always been at war with Eastasia.”

So it is now eagerly reported that some pro sports franchises in the state, NBA Hornets and NHL Hurricanes, are somehow appalled at this “sudden” change. Sporting News, which has become a liberal propaganda tool over the last couple of years, took the NFL Panthers to task for not jumping in with their own angry demands that the bathrooms (locker rooms included too) be opened up to all comers.

Yet it’s funny that these sports franchises are pretending that something has suddenly changed. I don’t recall a vast discrimination surge happening lately that required the city’s legislation. Do you? I haven’t seen mobs of trangenders and other sexually confused folks being refused access to a bathroom. They just can’t go to a bathroom different from their natural gender. What’s so unreasonable about that? (‘Plenty!’ screams the SJW.)

The fact is that the gender-confused are a microscopic part of the population but they have a disproportionate influence in media, education and the Democratic Party. That’s how these issues suddenly appear and then are flogged as if they are an emergency that needs to be addressed immediately.

The sports franchises are squealing that the state legislation will somehow endanger the playing of professional sports in the state and that some future previously scheduled events such as the 2017 NBA All-Star Game (in Charlotte) might have to be relocated outside the state. Apparently there are a lot of players and execs in the NBA and NHL are who are confused and being prevented from getting into whatever restroom/locker room they feel like going to on that particular day. The NBA has gone whole-hog into political correctness and I’m disappointed in Steph Curry for showing increasingly marshmallow-headedness in these things — though it has to be acknowledged that his statement was far softer than Sporting News tried to portray.

Sadly, the NHL is being sucked into liberalism. It has been showing lately on its NHL Network global-warming scare PSAs. It’d have been bad if they were running PSAs from the usual environmental agitprop suspects but they made the PSAs themselves. Stop it, NHL! I turned to you this year and watch more hockey because I’ve turned from the NFL, ESPN and have pared back my NBA diet in protest to its mounting liberalism and activism in nonbasketball activities. Don’t mess things up.

How Are Liberals Like Muslims?

In one way, they leave the crapholes they made of the cities, states and countries they live in to move to nicer places. They then start trying to change those places into the crapholes they left.

Perhaps it could be called the “Californians to Colorado/Montana/Northern Utah/Washington [pick one] Syndrome,” or perhaps, “Middle Eastern/North African Migration to Europe Pattern.”

Maybe it’s just the natural behavior of human locusts. Just a thought.

History Is Written By…

The famous saying of the smug, especially liberal college types, is that history is written by the victors.

<sarc>That explains all those books written by various conquering barbarians, Mongols, et al. And that explains why we have all those modern history books cataloguing the various grievances of allegedly historically oppressed and ignored minorities.</sarc>

The truth is that history is written by those who can write (or, these days, get hired to teach and/or snag a book contract).

More Free Stuff!

This little item popped up last week, somewhat under the radar — a free Internet (for some people — AKA regular Democrat voters) proposal from the modern Santa Claus, the Obama White House and its puppet, the Federal Communications Commission.

As I’ve been telling people for some time, the “free phone” “entitlement” would morph into free Internet and here we see the first step. This is also related to the designation of the Internet and related entities as “Title II,” i.e. a utility that can be heavily regulated by government. Liberals will not rest until the Internet is part of the government’s portfolio and under its oversight and control. Eventually there will be a Dept. of Communication with a cabinet-level secretary. Bank on it.

Unless it is stopped.

The acorn of this mighty oak was a Reagan-era program. Reagan had a soft spot for Social Security and old folks (he philosophically knew better but couldn’t resist the sad stories). His idea was that no old person would be trapped without some kind of basic phone service, at least for emergencies. Immediately an income rider was attached so that “the poor,” no matter their age, would also be eligible. You knew then that it would be expanded and expanded. And so it was, slowly at first. Then, a few decades letter, it exploded with the Obamaphone program for getting wireless phones to those who might not have them. And now Internet “access” is being folded in, because, well, it’s just not “fair” that some people have Internet and some don’t.

I’m going to say something that has become controversial as liberalism has become increasingly more dominant in our culture. There needs to be a penalty for being poor. There needs to be some impetus, reason, encouragement for people to make themselves unpoor.

But the left likes people to be poor. It likes them to become dependent upon the government — for a few things at first, but increasingly more and more of the creature comforts. After awhile — a few years, a few generations they don’t mind being poor. It’s not so bad to be poor because everyone has enough to eat (except when it’s time to make hay about ‘hunger); everybody has shelter (other than those voluntarily homeless or mentally disturbed and when it comes time to make hay about ‘homelessness’); everybody is getting health care (except when it comes time make hay about ‘health care’); everybody has educational opportunities and increasingly a free or heavily subsidized college (except when it time to make hay about ‘education’); and so on.

In many ways they aren’t really poor — certainly in not any traditional and historical sense. Nor are they poor in any comparison to the actual poor in the rest of the world. Most of our “poor” would rate as middle class in most parts of the globe.

They have enough to get by but certainly not enough to actually become no longer dependent upon the government. After a few generations of this, people no longer are capable of taking care of themselves. And why should they, they reason — that’s what the government is for! Big Daddy/Big Mommy/Big Sister/Big Brother and Big Baby.

And they don’t have to pay a nickle for any of it because that wouldn’t be “fair” and they are poor!

Witness life in any Democrat-controlled city. Everything that comes out of the mouths of the local poor is “gimme” and their look is to the government (and the politicians are happy to abide). In their minds the government provides all. They are married to the government. The concept of taking care of themselves or looking to building a private sector is mostly foreign to them. In the rare occasions when it is addressed it is treated with contempt or denounced by politicoes and “stakeholding” activists as a conspiracy by Republicans, conservatives, corporations, enslavers to control them. Those “stakeholders” have a stake in keeping the poor poor.

The poor become completely incapable of understanding that they have already sold their souls to a master — the Democratic Party and its various flying monkey organizations.

Hillary to Be Pardoned?

I’m going to offer a scenario.

With King Barry I seemingly signaling this week to Democrat Party elders that they need to unite around Hillary Clinton and stop playing footsy with The Bern, it looks like Obama has made a decision on his successor.

A problem would be Hillary Clinton’s indictment for mishandling classified information (and/or the indictment of at least half-a-dozen of her close confidants). But if the threat of indictment goes away, Hillary’s path to the nomination and then election becomes much clearer.

Here’s my little prediction, which I’m currently setting at one out of three — Barry the King will, “for the sake of the democratic process and healing,” pardon Hillary and her merry band of lawbreakers a day or two after the Democratic convention.

I believe this will require the FBI to send a request for prosecution to the Dept. of Justice. It’s clear that the evidence publicly available warrants several indictments. So far DOJ has walked away from a number of embarrassing cases, e.g. Abedin, Lerner, Veterans Admin., etc., and the media has been able to downplay these but a recommendation to go after Hillary would be too big to bury. That means the dodge will have to be addressed. You can be sure that Barry the King would issue a pardon because “it’s the right thing to do.”  In his mind everything he does, even a day out on the links, is always done for the best of the country, whether it agrees or not.

Then the DOJ will look for some hapless Republican, Tea Party-type conservative or a Wall Street target (who failed to contribute to Hillary’s campaign) and drop a ton of bricks on them for failing to properly fill out a form or jaywalking.

“We can’t abide lawbreaking,” The One or Loretta Lynch will crow. “That’s not who we are.”

Tectonic Movement

The modern environmentalism movement lives by one unwritten, unstated belief — that the environment, land, air, climate, can never change. Of course, anyone familiar with the Earth’s history knows that the planet has changed greatly over the billions of years it has been around. The gas mix of the atmosphere has moved from poisonous to human life to quite suitable. The temperature has moved from to hot for human habitation to almost too cold for human life most everywhere but the equatorial regions.

With the enviros clucking like chickens about stopping global warming and considering their belief that land erosion is a recent, man-made phenomenon, it has occurred to me, perhaps they should start legislating against plate tectonics. If we could just get mankind (AKA Big Business) to stop moving those continents, we wouldn’t have erosion and might be able to stop all those man-made earthquakes too!

You laugh. Just wait. I’m sure there’s a an activist, NGO or college movement somewhere already on this.

The Perfect Libtard Picture?

I found this picture, allegedly from the Facebook page of Thomas DiMassimo, the half-wit acting student who decided to bum-rush Donald Trump at a rally in Dayton, Ohio; and lost.

Check that out — somebody (perhaps DiMassimo, perhaps not) wearing $200 Air Jordan tennis shoes (probably with $100+ jeans) stepping on what appears to be an American flag. Is that not the perfect capture of the modern libtard — moneyed yet denigrating an object that represents the system that brought them such luxury? A luxury which they have no intent upon abandoning. This is considered symbolic of their beliefs by a college student on that forum of youthful expression, Facebook.

Is the complete lack of self-awareness the leading trait of the modern young liberal? Or is it the sheer ignorance of where they come from? Or is it the sledgehammer hypocrisy? Maybe it’s just “D,” All of the above.

A bit more on the leftist warrior. He’s allegedly an acting student, that is studying acting at Wright State University in Ohio. No offense intended but it’s a run-of-mill state school, not particularly known for its acting program. And DiMassimo came from Georgia to go to the school. He sounds like a professional student (and that would fit right in with everything else we’ve seen). He’s from Atlanta. There his parents are a teacher and a higher-up city/county government bureaucrat along with being active in Georgia Democratic politics. As someone pointed out, the parents have made a good living off the taxpayer all of their lives and they are passing a sense of entitlement onto their son. They are probably quite proud of him.

Technostupidity

Why is it seemingly any pop-technology website inevitably becomes liberal? Is this a corollary of O’Sullivan’s Law — any organization/group that isn’t actively conservative will became liberal over time? Is it because they are media-oriented and seem to only hire (mostly young) liberals?

Whatever, Mashable has essentially become unreadable over the last year with an explosion in hard left and anti-conservative politics creeping in (Obama can never do any wrong); open promotion of homosexuality and any other “ality” that isn’t heterosexuality; an obsession with freakish things and people who seem to be nearing derangement; promotion of the liberal social or economic cause or celebrity intellectual du jour; increasing focus on flaky entertainment; and, as all of these do, a complete swallowing of global warming and magical green energy stories.

Engadget looks more and more like Mashable but a year behind.

The Verge is suffering from a case of Voxization by its owner, Vox. It gets dumber by the day. It is now reminiscent of a once cute girl who now wears librarian glasses so that people will take her seriously.

Even plain vanilla Tech Crunch seems to be following the path of least resistance. Lately “LGBTQ” stories have started popping up on the site.

Gizmodo can’t stay away from bashing Trump and it often promotes the liberal enviro scare of the week. The latest liberal social crusade will make a regular appearance when it needs promoting.

Oh, yeah, “Diversity” is the buzzword of the century for all of them. And all are so painfully politically correct I’m stunned that they still use black as their default font color.

Pretty much every writer on these sites has no problem expressing their opinion with the confidence of a recent college graduate and few seem to be aware that there might be a disagreeing opinion out there. Almost every one of them doesn’t seem to be aware that there was history before the year 2000, other than some vague dark ages where white males feasted upon women and minorities (except Bill Clinton, who did none of that).
